THE DIRECTOR SPEAKS…..

The Journey of Rajneesh Thakur and Indus Valley Public School Since 2004 In 2004, a visionary educator and social reformer, Mrs. Rajneesh Thakur, laid the foundation of Indus Valley Public Senior Secondary School in Anu, Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh. Her dream was clear: to provide high-quality, value-based education to the children of rural Himachal, regardless of their social or economic background. At that time, educational infrastructure in many rural parts of Himachal Pradesh was limited. Most families had to send their children far away for better schooling, often at great cost. Mrs. Thakur, through his dedication and passion, decided to change that narrative. With the support of like-minded individuals and the backing of Himalayan Chetna, a social welfare NGO that she chaired, the school began its journey. Starting modestly, with just a few classrooms and basic resources, Indus Valley Public School steadily grew under his leadership. Mrs. Thakur believed that education was not just about books and exams, but about building character, instilling discipline, and nurturing curiosity.

She introduced a balanced curriculum that combined academics, extracurricular activities, sports, and moral education. By the 2010, the school had earned a reputation for academic excellence. Students began to perform exceptionally well in the Himachal Pradesh Board examinations, and the school consistently produced district and state-level toppers. Parents from nearby villages and towns increasingly preferred Indus Valley for their children’s education, trusting in Mrs. Thakur’s vision and the school’s consistent performance.

One of his key contributions was making quality education affordable and inclusive. Scholarships were offered to meritorious and underprivileged students, and special programs were organized for slow learners, ensuring no child was left behind. Mrs. Thakur’s leadership emphasized personal attention and a teacher-student bond that created a nurturing environment for learning.

As technology started shaping modern education, Mrs. Thakur embraced innovation. The school adopted smart classes, computer labs, and digital tools, preparing students for the global stage. She also ensured that teachers received regular training and exposure to new teaching methodologies. Alongside academics, environmental awareness, cultural activities, and community service were made a core part of student life. The school hosted debates, science exhibitions, sports tournaments, and awareness campaigns, making it a vibrant hub of learning and development.

Over the years, Rajneesh Thakur became not just a school chairman, but a mentor and guide to thousands of students and educators. Her commitment extended beyond school boundaries, as she worked through Himalayan Chetna to support women’s education, health camps, and social development projects across the region. Today, Indus Valley Public School stands tall as one of the most respected institutions in Hamirpur, and its success is a direct reflection of Mrs. Rajneesh Thakur’s hard work, leadership, and unwavering belief in the power of education. From humble beginnings in 2004 to becoming a symbol of excellence, his journey continues to inspire many in the field of education.
